Chinna Ponnu is a Folk singer who is also a Playback singer. She is famous for her song Nakku Mukka composed by Vijay Antony for the movie Kadhalil Vilundhen in 2008.
She was born in Suranam,Sivagangai,Tamilandu.
She started her career as a folk singer and performed in temple functions from her childhood. She then joined a folk songs troop lead by Kottaisamy. she consider Kottaisamy as her Guru.

- After her folk performances in various states, she acquires many chances from composers. Her first movie song was Vaazhthuren Vaazthuren in the movie Chandhramukhi in 2004. As it was a movie of Superstar Rajinikanth and many other popular personalities her song was well reached and acquires a lot of fame.
- She also released solo CD compositions such as Marikkozhundhae in 2005 and Thannae Thannae in 2009.
- In 2008 she sung Nakku Mukka composed by Vijay Antony for the movie Kadhalil Vizhuthen which was a chartbuster of those days and acquires her a lot and lots of appreciation. She also won Kannadasan Award for Nakku Mukka song.
- Another version of Nakku Mukka with different lyrics was shooted for an ad cover of Times of India. For this, she won two Golden Lions at Cannes in 2009. This Song Nakku Mukka was also featured in the Bollywood movie Dirty Picture.
